Masterpieces from Schoenberg, Holst and Scriabin offer three very different portraits of 20th-century music in this concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski. Big tunes and vivid characterisation make Holstâs The Planets a perennial favourite, while Scriabinâs Prometheus is an eccentric musical experiment. Premiered at the Proms in 1912, Schoenbergâs Five Orchestral Pieces took tonality to a new limit.
