Revitalizing a Farming Village: Hainan, China

Asia Insight Season 6 Episode 10

Overview:
Known as the "Hawaii of China", the popular resort island of Hainan has drawn attention for creating a new model for farming villages. Chen Tongkui, aged 36, led the change. He was the first in the village to graduate university. After quitting his job as a newspaper journalist to return to his hometown, Chen set up an online retail system to sell lychees and financed agricultural events through crowdfunding.
